CSA Resident Joins the Board of Directors

CSA Resident Joins the Board of Directors

CSA is pleased to announce that the newest member of its Board of Directors is Artie Parks, a current participant in CSA’s housing program and a resident of Sandy’s House.

Artie is a native of Marion, Ohio, born into a family of eight half brothers and sisters. When tragedy struck his family, all of the children were placed in foster homes.  After that, most of Artie’s life was spent in juvenile institutions or adult penal institutions.  Those struggles helped Artie renew his faith in Jesus Christ, and he was ordained into ministry in the mid 1980’s. However, additional personal circumstances led Artie back into a cycle of self destruction until he moved to Cleveland in 2004. For the past 11 years, his growth has been slow, but continual.  He has been alcohol and drug free for five years, and three of those years have been in the program of Community Service Alliance. He is an Associate Pastor at Enorce Baptist Church, a volunteer Chaplain at Fairfax Nursing Home, and is actively involved in prison ministry and outreach ministry with the Salvation Army.

“The highlight of my time at CSA thus far has been the opportunity I was provided to participate in the restoration of an old house (Sandy’s House), which is very much representative of my own shattered, broken, disheveled life prior to coming to CSA,” Artie says. “And now to be living there is a beautiful thing. I’m not sure how else to say it, but I credit CSA with saving my life, and I hope to give back in any way I can.”

Please join us in welcoming Artie to the leadership of CSA!
