CSA Alumni Gather for Summer BBQ Jam!

CSA Alumni Gather for Summer BBQ Jam!

CSA is all about its people – the men we serve … the men who cross our threshold in need of support … the men whom we walk along side on a journey from poverty and homelessness to independence and self-sufficiency. In our more than 10 year history, CSA has served over 1,300 men, and we continue to have a tremendous impact on the lives of these individuals.

Recently, a very interested and committed group of alumni have started the planning to form an alumni association to keep men engaged with CSA after they leave, as well as to connect alumni with current residents as an additional means of supporting the men here on their journeys to independence.

That group’s first event – the First Annual Summer BBQ Jam – was held on Saturday, May 27th in the backyard area behind Fulton House and Sandy’s House.  More than 50 residents, alumni, and other friends of CSA, both in and out of the recovery community, enjoyed a beautiful, sunny afternoon filled with great food, cold beverages on a very warm day, wonderful door prizes and raffle prizes, great upbeat music, and a genuine sense of camaraderie and friendship!

A very special thank you is extended to CSA alumni Robert Rivera and Tom Cullinan for helping to spear-head the event … Sandy’s House resident Robert Montgomery for doing all the cooking … and local DJ, Gilbert Santos, for donating his time and talent in supplying the musical entertainment.

Look for many other opportunities to support our CSA alumni in the future as they look to enhance the mission of the organization and be a catalyst for lasting relationships between people emerging out of homelessness and people willing to participate in their transformation.
